ST Helen’s Park in Prospect was filled with past and present Mallala residents on February 14 as they attended the 67th Mallala and Districts Reunion.
More than 70 people attended, including a number of younger people which was pleasing for organisers.
Reunion committee president Paul Angus, welcomed those present, and then announced long-time secretary, Bev Manning, had retired from the role.
Paul thanked her for 10 years of dedicated service, and welcomed her replacement, Judy Tucker.
Before introducing guest speaker, Jane Lutt (nee Konzag), Paul spoke on happenings at Mallala over the past 12 months, including renovations at Mallala Museum, a new grain complex and Lions camping site.
Jane officially opened the reunion, and gave an interesting speech on her family history.
She also spoke of her work in various industries including medicine, finance and livestock exports, at was at one time, chair of the South East Australian Livestock Exporters Association.
After speeches, guests enjoyed an afternoon catching up with old friends and sharing stories from years gone by.
The annual event is held on the second Sunday in February, so mark your diaries for February, 13, 2022.
