The Regional Youth Bus (RYB) was in Two Wells last month for its first official visit and was a hit with the many youngsters who clambered aboard.
The RYB project is a mobile youth facility and a Facebook page specifically for 12 to 24 year olds while the bus has been fully refurbished to be the ultimate kids retreat.
Its aim is to support local young people and communities through fun activities, education, referrals and by increasing the support services for rural towns.
The RYB has provided an opportunity for neighbouring councils to support youth in a collaborative and cost effective way.
The bus is packed with the latest technologies including gaming, music and WIFI, all in a supervised safe environment for young people to hang out with friends.
At the same time visitors can chat with staff and access a host of information and support on such things as career planning, health and wellbeing.
RYB project manager, Wayne Perry, said the response to the bus had been terrific.
“Its main aim is for the kids to have a safe, fun, place to hang out,” Wayne said.
“But we’ve also got the resources to help whoever needs it.”
The bus will be back in our district later this month, visit facebook.com/regionalyouthbus. to discover information, opportunities and events connected to the Regional Youth Bus.
