Two Wells teachers nominated for Early Education Awards
Two local educators have been nominated in this year’s Australian Family Early Education and Care Awards and could share in over $75,000 worth of prizes and training.
Early childhood educators, Chrissie Scott and Kristen McMillan, from Two Wells Community Children’s Centre, were both nominated in the Educator of the Year category and are humbled by the nomination.
“When you get that acknowledgement for what you do, it’s nice,” says Kristen, who has been working at the centre for the past four years.
Chrissie, who started at the centre in 2008 and has worked in both the kindergarten and childcare sectors of the site, loves her job.
“It’s challenging and it’s fun and you get to build relationships with kids and families,” she said.
“It’s just a great job.”
Now in its 11th year of celebrating and acknowledging the commitment, hard work and passion by outstanding leaders and services in the community, the awards recognise outstanding service in the categories of Director of the Year, Service of the Year, Educator of the Year and the Rising Star Award.
The Rising Star Award is open to people who have worked in early childhood for five years or less, regardless of their age.
The awards accept all levels of experience and qualification across all program types including long day care (private and community), family day care, occasional care, kindergarten, early learning centres and school age care groups.
State winners will be announced on June 5.
Good luck girls.
