Shadow Minister visits D’VineRipe

Member for Goyder Steven Griffiths hosted a busy two-day visit by Shadow Minister for Investment and Trade, Tim Whetstone and the Hon. Andrew McLachlan MLC on April 14 and 15.

The formal visit is one of three recently conducted in the region, following a blanket invitation by Mr Griffiths to all MPs, both in Government and in Opposition, made last year in an effort to broaden knowledge of the Goyder region.

Over the two days the official party visited a variety of local companies and businesses, included Cheetham Salt at Price, Arrium at Ardrossan, Southern Yorke Oysters at Stansbury, Adelaide Brighton Cement at Klein Point, Australian Grain Export Pty Ltd at Maitland, Harlequin Stone Production at Wallaroo, Balco, Bowman’s Intermodal and Australian Milling Group at Bowmans, and D’VineRipe at Two Wells.

The group reportedly learned much, and the visit cemented the view that primary production and value added industry in the regions are set to be key future drivers of South Australia’s economy in the future.

“The D’VineRipe 27-hectare facility is an example of the impressive work being done in intensive growing in the Two Wells area,” Mr Griffiths said.

“I congratulate D’VineRipe on their innovation, dedication to excellence, and on its recent success in receiving significant State Government grant funding.

“I thank them, and all the businesses who took the time to show us around.

“It greatly assists me to place Goyder in the spotlight.”
