In the spirit of the Anzacs, two local RSL members are doggedly researching and compiling in a bid to create a lasting record of local soldiers who have served in the armed forces – and now they need your help.
For the past four years Garry Tancock and John Allen from the Two Wells Returned Services League have created detailed folders of information about local soldiers who have served from the Boer War of the late 1890s to WW1, WW2, Vietnam and Afghanistan.
The pair used the names on the town’s WW1 memorial as a starting point and are now seeking the broader public to have an input.
“For many soldiers who served there may not be any descendants alive, and that’s one of the problems,” John said.
“This will hopefully become a record of the military people from the district irrespective of whether they served overseas or not.”
Anyone with information about local soldiers, especially military records and photographs, is encouraged to contact John on 0411 894 245 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
