The 2015 season has started well for both the A & B grades with the A grade recording three wins from three starts, and the Reserves scoring two wins.
The B’s had a very good win against Virginia, at Virginia, despite a number of players unavailable for pre-season training and a question mark over their fitness.
This was followed up by a huge win against Hamley Bridge the following week. It was also good to see some past players return to the club in Ross Coleman, Owen Allmond and Ben Harvey.
The A grade lined up for the Virginia game with some notable outs, with Eamon Fetherstonhaugh and Lee Henderson both injured and the unexpected unavailability for the season of Shannon Slattery, due to work commitments in Tasmania.
However, the resulting win of 10.10 to 4.4 was very pleasing.
To restrict Virginia to one goal to half time with their powerhouse forward line was a credit to our defence of Pontt, Hardiman, Daly, Hart, O’Brien and Wise.
The game against Hamley Bridge was an easy win of 46.23 to 0.1, due to the mass exodus of players from Hamley at the end of last season.
The pleasing part of this game was the fact that 17 of the 21 Roosters players kicked goals.
We look forward to the return of some key players in Dylan Wise, Khan Leighton and Fethers from injury in the coming weeks as we take on HW Eagles, Mallala and Balaklava in the next month.
