Nominations for the District Council of Mallala Australia Day Awards are now open.
Every Australia Day, the DCM recognises and rewards individuals and organisations that have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, or given an outstanding service over a number of years, to the local community.
Community development officer, Lynette Seccafien, who organises the Citizen of the Year Awards, says it is a great honour for nominees.
“Nominees are normally unaware they have been nominated, and most are humbled and grateful for the award,” she said.
The awards reward and recognise individuals and organisations that have made contributions.
Outstanding contribution and community service areas include education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to making the District Council of Mallala a strong community and a great place to live and work.
Presented at the Australia Day breakfast, the awards are open to all residents of the DCM area, and any contributions made to the community from non-residents are also considered.
Award categories are: Citizen of the Year Award, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year; Community Group of the Year.
To nominate a person or group, download a nomination form from www.mallala.sa.gov.au. Nominations are open until Friday, November 21.
