Women are usually the spectators at football matches, but many secretly want to get out there and play.
Now’s girls, here’s your chance!
Angle Vale Football club is looking for females to play in its new under 18 or seniors teams for next season.
The club’s president, Jo Westaway, who played football in her schooldays, is leading by example, and is going to attend pre-season training!
“We have two female teams in the open competition already, but would like to have more, and also some under 18 girls,” Jo said.
The females’ teams play in the SAWFL, with the under 18s having 12 players in a team and the seniors having the regulation 18.
Angle Vale Football club also has men’s teams playing in the SAAFL, and the juniors playing in the north eastern metro league. Juniors play in under six to under 15 competitions, and the club would like to also field under 16 and 18 teams. The club is holding a registration day on Monday, November 17 at 6pm at the Angle Vale Sporting Complex, and everyone is invited to attend.
Pre-season trainings will be on Monday evenings, but during the season, trainings will be held on Tuesday and Thursdays.
“The club is really excited by the new females competition, as it brings opportunities for women to play and be involved,” Jo said.
