Residents are asked to be vigilant after illegal dumping of asbestos materials was found recently on a roadside near the Lewiston area.
A local resident noticed the dumped materials, wrapped in “Caution – dangerous goods” tape, and reported it to the Light Council.
Mick Meaney, of Light Council, said unfortunately dumping was becoming more common.
“We are seeing an increase in this type of dumping activity, which becomes a costly exercise for us to safely collect and dispose of asbestos.”
All residents are asked to take note of any suspicious activity of vehicles on side roads, especially loaded light trucks, utes and trailers.
