Nominations open today (October 1) for the 2015 Australia Day Awards.
State wide award categories are:
Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (under 30 as of January 26, 2015) and Community Event of the Year.
To be eligible for Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year, you must be an Australian citizen, have made a significant contribution to the community, and be an inspirational role model for the Australian community.
Community Event of the Year will be presented to the person/group who has staged the most outstanding community event during 2014.
Selection criteria includes the quality of the event and contribution of the event to the community.
The scope of impact the contribution or event has on the local government area will also be assessed as part of the selection criteria for all awards.
District Council of Mallala has two extra awards for its area, Community Group of the Year, and Community Project of the Year. During the selection process for the awards, regard is given to the nominee’s achievements in 2014, as well as their past achievements and ongoing contribution to the community.
Awards will be presented at the Australia Day breakfast in each Council area.
If you would like to nominate someone you deem worthy of this honour, complete a nomination form and attach any supporting documentation, and return by Friday, November 21, 2014 to your local council office.
