The inaugural first meeting of the recently established Two Wells Young Writers Club, which was held last month, has been hailed a success, with participants keen to share ideas and put pen to paper.
The brainchild of local resident, published author and middle school teacher, Haze Sackey, the group aims to foster creative writing skills in young people aged 8-16 years in a supportive and constructive environment.
“I thought the first meeting was a huge success,” Haze enthused. “All the kids were engaged and excited about our upcoming plans and competitions.”
Since the group’s initial meeting more new members have signed up and Haze says they’ll all be busy writing stories to enter their first competition.
Meeting fortnightly on Wednesdays from 4.30-5.30pm at the Two Wells Public Library the club is free to attend and is supported by the District Council of Mallala. If you or someone you know are interested in joining please contact Janine Harding on 8527 0200 or just ask the librarian at the Two Wells Library for an information brochure next time you visit.
