Message to residents from DCM Mayor and Lewiston ward councillor Duncan Kennington
The ‘Team Duncan’ quiz team re-formed for the Parham Social Club quiz night on Saturday July 26.
As usual the meals were great and the questions tricky.
Our quizmasters, Georgina Dobson (president) and Raelene Horgan kept us entertained with searching, and often humorous, questions.
One member of our team, Jill, won a random prize.
Our ranking skyrocketed from wooden spooners last time, to third.
Sky’s the limit next time.
On Monday August 4 I attended the SALA Festival opening at the Two Wells library.
Eleven artists entered exhibits with the theme being ‘Outside the Square’:
Ellen Steyn and
I had the pleasure of presenting certificates to those present, cutting the cakes, and eating more than my share of the kit-kats.
Last month I also had the pleasure of speaking at the Two Wells Ageing in Style Expo.
This was the first of its kind in our district and was part of a collaborative project between the Barossa, Light, Gawler, and Mallala councils.
The expo aims to provide information on growing older, options to assist people in remaining at home, and a variety of local community groups, which one can join.
The Two Wells Scout Group assisted in preparing the food, which was provided by the Seniors Collaborative Action Project.
‘Passive Minds’ provided the music and the Magic Moments Dance Group performed.
Lynette Seccafien and Janine Harding assisted with all round super-duper organisation and question answering.
One of the pleasures of living in Lewiston is the occasional flocks of galahs that fly overhead.
The pictured galah (top) often stops for a chat and a rest with my pet galahs: sometimes for an hour or two.
