A colourful sight of hundreds of characters from much loved books, nursery rhymes and movies greeted motorists, pedestrians and shop owners along Two Wells’ main street last month.
The metamorphous was all part of Book Week celebrations by students and staff at Two Wells primary school, reflecting this year’s theme of Connect to Reading; Reading to Connect.
The annual parade through the streets of the town is a highlight of the year for many students, and lots of parents and residents lined the street to wave them by.
Afterwards everyone gathered in the school’s gym and watched as each class paraded past and showed off their fun, clever and inspiring costumes.
There were witches and pirates galore, fairies, villains, lots of people dressed as horse riders and every kind of superhero you can imagine.
More than a few were dressed as Princess Elsa from the popular children’s movie Frozen, but there was also Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Where’s Wally.
The parade was just one of many activities throughout the week in recognition of Book Week.
