Angle Vale Primary School opened its classrooms to parents and friends on Wednesday, July 31, as part of its “Celebration of Learning” event.

School principal, Robyn O’Dea, said the open day was in its second year and was an opportunity for parents to see what goes on inside classrooms.

The day was scheduled to focus on showcasing literacy and numeracy learning, she said, and also incorporated an information session for parents on how to help their children in these areas of the curriculum.

“This event is held as part of Literacy and Numeracy week,” Ms O’Dea said.

“We like to give families a chance to have a look at what’s happening in class and for them to feel comfortable wandering into classrooms to see what’s going on and what’s happening around the school.”

One parent who took up the opportunity to see her daughter participate in literacy learning was Tania Wilson.

“I think it’s great to see how the class works and how the kids interact with each other,” Tanya said.

“It’s also great to see what they are learning and the other sides of their literacy learning from what we see at home.”
