District Council of Mallala has submitted a response to the State Government’s Playford Growth Area Structure Plan announced in June.
The plan suggests 38,000 new homes could be built in Adelaide’s north over the next 30 years and see a population increase of 100,000 people in the Buckland Park, Edinburgh, Angle Vale, Playford North and Virginia areas.
DCM chief executive officer, Charles Mansueto, said council has made a submission reflecting council’s view of how the plan could impact on the council area.
“The main thrust of our submission to the Playford Structure Plan is with regards to proposed flood mitigation constructed south of the Gawler River that may impact on our district,” Mr Mansueto said.
“We want to make sure it does not have a negative impact on the Lewiston or Two Wells area.”
