District Council of Mallala has been unsuccessful in its bid for Federal government funding for a market place in Two Wells.
DCM applied for $300,000 in round three of the Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF) to create a market place as part of the proposed Two Wells town centre development.
DCM chief executive officer, Charles Mansueto, said it was disappointing council was not successful.
“Given the opportunity for this project to start the revitalisation of the town centre, council is disappointed not to receive the funds,” he said.
“The project still will be pursued but we will need to look at other grant funding options.”
Mr Mansueto said council’s round four application of $15 million for the proposed Northern Adelaide Irrigation Scheme, which would pipe water from the Bolivar Waste Water Treatment Plant to Two Wells, was withdrawn due to the private partner pulling out.
“Council now is looking at a revised project that still will deliver many of the benefits hoped for in the initial application,” Mr Mansueto said.
